Industry Problems | See How to Overcome Rubber Aging

 The aging of rubber is a common topic. Rubber aging refers to the process in which rubber and its products gradually decline in performance due to the combined effects of internal and external factors during processing, storage and use, until they lose their use value. There are three main categories of external causes of rubber aging:

1. Physical factors. Aging is caused by factors such as heat, light, electricity, metal ions, high-energy radiation and mechanical force;

2. Chemical factors. Aging occurs under the action of oxygen, ozone, strong oxidants, inorganic acids, alkali, salt aqueous solutions and other factors;

3. Biological factors. Aging occurs due to the influence of microorganisms, insects, marine organisms, etc. (mostly occurring in tropical and subtropical areas).

Aged rubber has obvious external characteristics, such as becoming soft and sticky, hardening and brittle, cracking, moldy, spots, cracks, blooming, powdering and whitening, etc. In terms of performance, aging rubber's cold resistance, heat resistance, tensile strength, wear resistance, elasticity, insulation, etc. will also decline to varying degrees.
The aging of rubber is as natural as human aging and is an inevitable phenomenon. However, innovative production processes, appropriate storage environments, and reasonable usage methods can all delay rubber aging.

Taking rubber mixes and rubber hose products as an example, antioxidants are added to the rubber mix during the production process to make the finished rubber products have antioxidant, ozone resistance, flex crack resistance and other properties. The mixed rubber produced according to the plan is transferred to the rubber hose production workshop and put into use in the shortest possible time, which reduces aging caused by transportation, storage and other factors. In the storage process, the modern hose warehouse of about 6,000 square meters also provides a cool, safe and temperature-friendly storage space for finished rubber hoses.

In order to further solve the problem of rubber aging, the company creatively applies UPE coating to the inner and outer layers of rubber hoses to form an isolation layer, which completely eliminates aging factors such as oxidation, ozone, acid, alkali and salt solvents, insects and microorganisms. The company's UPE rubber-plastic composite hose greatly extends the storage and service life of rubber hoses and reduces the frequency of hose replacement. While retaining the characteristics of rubber hoses such as softness and high pressure resistance, this hose is also suitable for transporting special media such as acid and alkali solvents and abrasive materials, making it the undisputed king of performance.
